Protest: Celebrate the faculty

On the 19th of November at 15:00 we will meet in front of the Academy Building (Broerstraat 5) to celebrate our medium-sized faculty!

Together with the other smaller faculties that are threatened by the mergers, the Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society and the Campus Fryslân, we want to make a statement against the mergers by presenting our lively and close-knit communities. There will be speeches, music, cake and drinks. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

This celebration is occurring in light of the debate regarding merging and “harmonising processes” across faculties, as initiated by the Board of the University. Just as the vast majority of faculty councils, we oppose these mergers due to concerns about lasting impacts on the quality of education, the representation of the students’ voices, or the broad array of activities offered by and to the students.

We created a more extensive list of potential risks of mergers and centralisation here.

In order to preserve what we value in our faculty we believe that everyone’s voice is important. Therefore, we created an anonymous survey for all FSS students. Please help us and fill out this form!
